A treat on the early morning!


  • 275 ml cold Classic Strong English tea
  • 450 grams of dried fruits such as apricots and apples
  • 220 grams of brown sugar
  • 100 grams finely chopped walnuts
  • 100 grams cherries cut into quarters
  • 1 egg, beaten with 2 tablespoons of milk
  • 450 grams self-rising flour


  • Soak the fruits together with the sugar in the tea overnight
  • Start the next day by preheating the oven at 170 ° C
  • Add the remaining ingredients
  • Mix everything well together
  • Transfer the mixture to a baking dish of 30-25 cm
  • Bake the cake in the oven for 1¼ hours
  • After baking, immediately remove the cake from the tin and let cool on a rack
  • Slice the cake and spread with butter
