Kashmiri 'Noon' Chai tea

Description

The pink 'Noon' Chai tea is the famous tea from Kashmir. The pink tea may look tricky to make yourself, but with this recipe you will be fine! This Kashmiri 'Noon' Chai tea is a tea that has a spicy taste due to the cardamom and the nuts that are used within the tea. In addition, the taste of the tea is not sweet but a little salty, a real taste explosion in the mouth! 

The 'Noon' chai tea is a real warm-up for the winter weather, so surprise your guests with this delicious recipe! 

Ps: You can also make the tea vegan by replacing the milk with almondmilk.

Ingredient list

For 2 people: 
• 4 Teaspoons of loose green tea- de Japan Green Sencha fits perfectly for this recipe
• 4 Cups with water 
• 4 Cups with whole milk/almond milk (vegan) 
• 2/3 Teaspoon of baking soda 
• 4 Ground cardamom pods
• 4 Teaspoons of ground pistachios and almonds 
• 2 Teaspoons of poppy seeds  
• 1 Teaspoon with sea salt 

Preparation

• Boil 2 cups with water and add the tea leaves until the mixture starts to foam. 
• Then add the baking soda and beat vigorously with a whisk for +/- 10 seconds 
• Add the rest of the water and the cardamom powder. Keep adding the cardamom powder until the tea turns red in color. 
• Reduce the heat and then add the milk. 
• Then beat the tea well, this will cause the tea to foam slightly. If the steps have been followed correctly, the color of the tea is now dark pink. 
• You can add more or less milk to get the pink color that you want. 
• Now add the salt and stir the tea well. 
• Pour the tea into a nice tea mug and add some ground pistachios and almonds, enjoy!!
