Tea Cultures' impact on the world
At Tea Cultures, we work with our partners every day to create a better world. This is how we do that:
Social impact
- We have warm and direct relationships with our farmers in Sri Lanka, based on fair prices and a good working culture. We pay more than other buyers. This ensures that the tea chain is as short as possible.
- As part of our own foundation, we contribute to better infrastructure in the places where our tea comes from. We invest 2% of our turnover.
- We are part of SOFA (Small Organic Farmers' Association), where we work together with small, organic farmers.
- We report our impact in impact reports, providing insight into our impact and yours.
- We know where our tea comes from. We can trace our products 100% back to their origin.
- We work with local parties, such as various social workshops and local suppliers for woodwork and carving, for example.
Sustainability
- Our tea is Fairtrade and Tea Cultures is a certified organic organisation.
- The packaging of all our tea lines is 100% recyclable. Our Tea Leaves Collection packaging is made of paper and the tea bags are made of non-woven material, which is made by binding plant fibres together.
- Our tea farmers work with the Agroforestry system, in which tea plants, fauna and other flora coexist on the same land.
- Biodynamic farming, which does not use pesticides or other chemicals.
- With our production and office, we contribute to reducing our CO2 emissions. For example, our office is climate-positive, with 242 solar panels on the roof, among other things.
- Our carrier ensures CO2-neutral delivery to your location.
Our products
More than just attractive packaging.
Whole Leaf Tea
Our Whole Leaf tea collection is 100% recyclable. The packaging is made of paper, monoplastic and tin.
Although we do use plastic in this packaging, we use monoplastic. Monoplastic consists of only one type of plastic, making it easy to recycle. And did you know that tin is one of the best materials to recycle? It can be reused indefinitely, contributing to a circular economy.
Tea Leaves Collection
Our Tea Leaves Collection is 99.8% future-proof, and we are 100% aware of that remaining 0.2%.
All packaging in this collection is made of paper, with only our Earl Grey using a coating in the envelope. Why? Because Earl Grey contains bergamot oil as an ingredient, which is absorbed by paper. We are currently looking for a plant-based coating so that our Tea Leaves Collection is 100% future-proof.
Non-woven tea bags
Our tea bags are made from non-woven material. Non-woven materials are fabrics made by binding plant fibres together using various methods, such as heat, pressure or glue. Tea bags made from non-woven material represent a step forward in creating more sustainable, environmentally friendly tea experiences. By using biodegradable, plant-based fibres, they offer a greener alternative without compromising on the quality of your tea.
