Houjicha is a unique tea within the Japanese green tea family, bearing a slight resemblance to matcha. Houjicha is made from ground, roasted green tea leaves. Although, like matcha, it is a powder, it has its own distinct flavour profile, with a warm aroma and a slightly nutty taste. To prepare houjicha, mix it with water at around 80 °C, then whisk vigorously for about 30 seconds. The result is an amber-coloured infusion that is perfect for drinking on its own or enjoying as a latte.
